Four million cats and dogs- about one every eight seconds- are put down in US shelters each year. Often these animals are offspring of cherished family pets. Spay/neuter is a proven way to reduce pet overpopulation, ensuring that every pet has a family to love them.
Many cats and dogs who die as a reult of pet overpopulation could have made wondeful pets. Between six and eight million dogs and cats enter US shelters every year; far too many to all find homes. (www.hsus.org)
A solution is possible and starts with each of us taking one small step in spaying/neutering our own pets. To further help with the pet overpopulation, consider adopting your next pet.
Sadly, approximately four million pets are euthanized each year in the US simply because too many people give up their pets and too few pople adopt. By adopting you will help save the lives of TWO animals- the pet you adopted and the homeless animal who can be saved because of the space you helped free up.
